Alan Finston started his career in Physical Therapy but diversified his interests to wine, music, old Volkswagens/Porsches and sailing (not necessarily in that order). He studied English at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA with a minor in Music and Biology, and went on to obtain his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy at University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. He started Whatcom Physical Therapy in 1997 and it has grown to a company with three clinics and twenty plus employees. Seeing an opportunity across the street from his Blaine office, he purchased the old Bank of America Building as an expansion opportunity for his clinic and aerobics space for his fitness center.
The opportunity to pursue other passions (wine, food) became available with the extra space in the building and a wine/beer restaurant/bar/event space concept was quickly hatched. Alan envisions “The Vault” as an opportunity to provide Blaine/Whatcom County with a venue for the arts including dance, music, art gallery space, and performance space, as well as a place to showcase the Pacific Northwest as one of the great wine meccas of the world.
In addition, the Vault will carry wines from beyond the northwest including offerings from California, France, Italy, Spain and beyond. An emphasis on quality and value is always of paramount importance to him and he feels “The Vault” should function as a conduit to pass these opportunities for enjoyment on to his clients/friends.
